DASINE ASBERRY BIO
Dasine The Dream Asberry was born November 9, 1978 in Newark, N.J. where he was
brought up in a one parent home. His mother, Joyce Asberry, raised him as his father was in and out of his
life. Growing up on the streets of this Northern New Jersey city was not for the faint of heart, as there were many temptations around virtually every corner.
Dasine, however, took a liking to sports and began playing midget football for the Northward Cardinals
at the age of 12. Sports would supply a diversion for Dasine, who would continue athletics through high school.
As a senior at Baringer High School, he played football, competing in the East-West (NJ) Senior Game in 1998, and also ran track and field.
From there it was on to college to play football at William Patterson College where he played defensive back.
After two-and-a-half years, Dasine was forced to drop out of school to help his family. He moved to
Edgewater Park, NJ to work 12 hour shifts in a glass factory to make ends meet. At this time he also married
the former Tiffany Bailey. The desire to compete still remained, however, and Dasine began entering Tough
Man competitions, where it became very evident he had both fast hands and power. After winning the
championship in the 135-155 lb. class, Dasine decided to turn to professional boxing. After an opening
loss, Dasine The Dream has won two straight under the tutelage of his new trainer Bob McGeehan. Dasine
now continues to persue his dream of becoming a champion as a welterweight fighter.
